The END OF AN ERA the Last Gippsland Lakes Fishermen, project's foundational purpose was to record interviews with the last ten licence holders working the Gippsland Lakes fishery in the lead up to its closure as a commercial enterprise. .Additional funding and support from Fisheries Research Development Corporation, the project expanded to include more interviews and a broader, public facing outcome - a physical exhibition. Photographers were commissioned to take operational, documentary and portrait photographs, with the purpose of digitally archiving the collection for posterity as well as curating the collection for exhibitions. The Fisherman's personal Stories and stunning photography, along with video and artefacts offered a rare look into the final moments as this commercial fishery closes its doors. This book shares only a glimpse of the ups and downs and the lifestyle these fishermen felt privileged to be a part of.
